One Des Moines Police Officer is in the hospital following an accident at the Iowa State Fair, bringing awareness to the dangers police officers face even during routine duties like directing traffic. Lt. Paul Haase of the Pella Police Department says officers are trained to put themselves in the least amount of danger possible when making traffic stops or responding to calls. He reminds people to pay close attention when passing by any scene involving police.
