A pair of local hurlers have earned All-State baseball recognitions from the Iowa Newspaper Association. Knoxville’s Eric Jones was actually selected as a utility nomination for Class 3-A Second Team All-State, while Pella pitcher Schyler Kane was named to the Third Team.

Jones was 5-1 as a starter for the Panthers this season with a 1.31 ERA and 67 strikeouts, as Knoxville finished the season with a 14-18 record.

Kane also put up solid numbers on the mound, going 7-2 with a 1.22 ERA and 77 strikeouts, as the Little Dutch completed a 19-15 campaign in 2011.
