The Corporation for National and Community Service has ranked Iowa number two in the nation in volunteerism. The ranking comes as no surprise to Pella Chamber of Commerce Director Karen Eischen. She says the Chamber wouldn’t be able to function without all the hard work volunteers put in, adding those same volunteers also make big events like Tulip Time a success year after year. If you’d like to donate your time, energy or ideas to events and committees in Pella, check out the Pella Chamber of Commerce website at pella.org.

Knoxville Chamber of Commerce Director Aanna Hoch says that volunteers are essential for events such as Knoxville Nationals. She says she is grateful that so many people were willing to give their time to help make this year’s Nationals a successful week. There are plenty of other volunteer opportunities in Marion County. Lisa Houser, executive director for Marion County Habitat for Humanity, says that if you want to help them out, all you have to do is show up. They are currently working on two houses every Saturday on the corner of Marion and Harlan in Knoxville.
