Though the expectations for success will remain the same, the Pella Christian volleyball team will have one very noticeable difference this upcoming season. For the first time in nearly 20 years, John Evenhouse will not be the one calling out plays from the bench and directing players in the huddle. Instead, Cindy Nikkel will begin her first season as head coach of the Lady Eagles volleyball team.

Nikkel was selected to fill the role this past February, and brings a wealth of coaching experience to Pella Christian. Most recently, she’s been an assistant coach at Central College, but also served as the head volleyball coach at a Division II college in California; and spent 11 seasons coaching at Ripon Christian High School, where her teams twice finished as state runner-up.

Cindy Nikkel is currently working with the Pella Christian volleyball team at the Central College team camp, and is looking to continue the success of a squad that went 26-11 last season – reaching the state tournament for the fourth consecutive year.
