A sweep of Winterset Thursday night has the Pella Christian volleyball team off to a strong start this week. The Lady Eagles downed the Huskies in straight sets in the first home game of the season at Pella Christian High School, holding Winterset to 17 points in each of the first two games and just ten points in the third and final game.
Pella Christian benefited greatly from a balanced offense, as Lynelle De Bruin put down eight kills, Jenna Horstman had seven, and Jasmin Schelhaas notched six kills. Horstman also recorded a game-high nine aces. Spreading the ball around for the Lady Eagles were Sarah Faber and Lauren Jungling, who dished out 15 and 14 assists, respectively. Tayler Stursma paced the Pella Christian defense with 14 digs.
The Lady Eagles are off to a 2-0 start to the season, but will face some top-tier competition this weekend when they compete in a tournament in Ames.
