Waivers, testing, progress, percentiles, No Child Left Behind….all of these terms have made it into the national discussion concerning education lately.
US Department of Education Secretary Arne Duncan has been touring the country including a recent stop in Iowa, talking about his plan to give schools more flexibility in reaching standards set by the federal No Child Left Behind laws.
Pella Schools Superintendent Greg Ebeling says Pella Schools are also facing some challenges in meeting some standards, but says final decisions on what changes will be made in federal law haven’t been made yet.
He says they have made good progress in getting all students where they need to be, but there is still work to be done.
