The Central College men’s soccer team is hopeful that the combination of depth, experience, and skill at a number of positions can put the pieces together to make a run at an Iowa Conference title this fall.  The Dutch lost just three starters from a team that finished in fourth place in the league standings last year, while returning eight starters and twenty letter winners.

Among those returning are four all-conference players – two in the midfield and two defenders.  Despite finishing with a 5-3 record in the Iowa Conference last season, the Dutch were just a game out of first place, and head coach Garry Laidlaw is excited about the depth that an incoming class of 21 will provide him.

Overall the Dutch were 13-5 last season, and will begin the 2011 campaign with some challenging non-conference contests.  The Central men’s soccer team opens competition with Elmhurst at home on September 1st, before traveling to St. Louis, Missouri, on September 3rd to face Division III powerhouse, Washington University.
