Facing one of the toughest pools of the field, Pella Christian emerged from the Ames tournament with a third place finish on Saturday.

The Lady Eagles claimed wins over Nevada (2-0), Boone (2-1), and Ames (2-1) to advance from pool play to take on Mason City.  Pella Christian then toppled the Mohawks in two straight games for their fourth win of the day before falling to Cedar Falls 0-2.

Lady Eagles’ head coach Cindy Nikkel said her team continued to employ a balanced attack, while backing it up with an improved defense to finish the day strong.

Outside hitters Shelby Nikkel and Jenna Horstman paced the Pella Christian offense from the block, supplied by a steady stream of assists from setter Sarah Faber and passes by Tayler Stursma; while Lauren Jungling bolstered the Lady Eagles with a number of aces from the service line throughout the day.

The Pella Christian volleyball season is now 6-1 on the season and will face Norwalk on Thursday in their first Little Hawkeye Conference match of the season.
