Unemployment numbers for the month of August have been released. Marion County saw a slight increase in unemployment, from 5.5% in July to 5.9% in August. That’s still slightly lower than the state average of 6.1% and well below the national average of 9.1%. The unemployment rate at this time last year was 6.1%.
