Running against a field comprised primarily of large school teams, the Pella cross country squads finished strong in Indianola Thursday evening. Led by Zach Buchheit’s second-place finish and teammate Evan Jones finishing fourth, the Pella boys claimed third place in the team standings – behind host Indianola and West Des Moines Valley, and one spot in front of Boone.

The Pella girls also performed well, led by Gabi Meirick’s sixth-place individual finish, and Hanna Martin, who was close behind in 14th place. The Lady Dutch finished 5th in the team standings. Both cross country teams from Pella High are also ranked in the latest team standings, released by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches. The Pella boys reclaim the No. 1 ranking this week, while their female counterparts are at No. 7.
