A burglary occurred in the early morning hours Saturday at Gibson’s Jewelry on the downtown square in Knoxville. Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada tells KNIA/KRLS News that officers responded to an alarm at the store at 5:40AM. Officers found the glass in the door of the store broken, and several display cases had been broken into. The burglary suspect or suspects apparently fled on foot. Rick Gibson, owner of the store says that the extent of the losses is currently being assessed. He asks for the community’s thoughts and prayers as the business recovers. Gibson adds that he hopes to have the doors to the business open to customers as early as today; tomorrow at the latest. He asks that if you have any leads or if you witness any suspicious behavior, you should contact the Knoxville Police Department. Chief Losada says the investigation continues, and KNIA/KRLS News will have more information as soon as it becomes official.
