A Marion County man has completed an outstanding accomplishment. 61-year-old Andy Hazer, from Columbia, has now completed a marathon in all fifty states. The achievement is known as a “50-stater” among runners. Hazer recently ran a marathon in Omaha, Nebraska to finish the feat. He says he’s been running marathons for about 25 years now, but only decided after he retired about three and a half years ago to try for the 50-stater. Hazer tells KNIA/KRLS News that the most difficult marathon he ran was a trail marathon in California that had a lot of steep inclines and declines.
