The Knoxville Recreation Center continues to make progress on the Grounds Project. Vanderpool Construction of Indianola was recently awarded the contract for the project after submitting a bid of just over $288,000. After adding in engineering fees and other miscellaneous costs, that cost is expected to come in around $50,000-60,000 less than what was anticipated. Knoxville City Manager Harold Stewart says the Recreation Commission has ideas on how to use the additional money to enhance the project, such as outdoor bathroom facilities or concession stands. The project is expected to begin this fall.
