Pella Christian finished runner-up in their own volleyball invitational on Saturday, while the squad from Knoxville added two more wins to their resume’ and took sixth place in the eight-team field.  

The Lady Eagles swept Pool “A”, taking 2-0 wins over Des Moines Christian and Grandview Park Baptist, and edging out Gilbert 2-1.  

The Panthers, meanwhile, went 1-2 in Pool “B” defeating Chariton 2-1, but falling in straight sets to Bondurant-Farrar and West Des Moines Valley.  

Knoxville earned a slot in the Consolation Pool, where they defeated Grandview Park Baptist 2-0 before falling 2-0 to Des Moines Christian to end their day.  

Pella Christian entered the Championship Pool as one of the favorites defeating West Des Moines Valley in straight sets to set up a championship match with Bondurant-Farrar.  

The Bluejays held on for a 26-24 win in the first game, but the Lady Eagles came back with a 25-17 victory in the second game, setting up a decisive third frame.  Pella Christian held close, but couldn’t come away with the victory, as Bondurant-Farrar claimed the match on a 15-12 final set.  

The Pella Christian volleyball team is now 18-3 overall this season.  Knoxville’s record is 7-9.
