The weather forecast could not better for the Eighth Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals this weekend at the Knoxville Raceway. According to the official Accuweather Forecast, there is not a mention of rain in the forecast. Meanwhile the entry list reads like a who’s-who among late model drivers. Former winners Brian Birkhofer, Brady Smith, Scott Bloomquist, and Defending Champion Billy Moyer are all entered plus over 70 others, including Tyler Reddick. Reddick, who is 15 years-old is by rule allowed to race a late model at Knoxville, the minimum age allowed to drive a sprint car is 16. Knoxville Raceway Director of Marketing Brian Stickle says the first seven events have not disappointed. One name on the entry list that likely will decide not to run is NASCAR Driver Tony Stewart. Stewart has all of a sudden become the driver to beat in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase for the Championship as he has won the first two races of the ten race chase and is currently holding the points lead. Hot laps all three nights are set to begin at 6:45. In related sports, Toby Kruse was named as the new General Manager of the Knoxville Raceway, he will work alongside John McCoy who will step into the Race Director role next season.
