Jimmy Owens of Newport, Indiana won opening night of the Eighth Annual Lucas Oil Later Model Knoxville Nationals last night. Owens timed in eighth during time trials, and was fourth in his heat, took the lead around the midway point of the 25-lap A-Main to get the win and the $7,000 that goes with it. Darrell Lanigan, Austin Hubbard, Brian Birkhofer, and Shannon Babb completed the top five. Tonight is night two of the Late Model Nationals and many of the same drivers will be competing.
