The Pella Christian cross country teams return to the course this afternoon, as the Eagles take part in the PCM Invitational. The Eagles are eager to hit the track for competition again, particularly with so many young runners eager to prove themselves.

Head coach Jocelyn Meinders says at this point in the season, it’s important for her athletes to focus on the mental aspects of their races.

“Race strategy is a lot of it right now, and just their mental toughness,” says Meinders. “Just realizing what they need to do during their race to make sure they don’t slow down. We’re also working on who they need to keep up with on our own team and how they should be pushing each other, as well as recognizing how they need to be pacing themselves.”

The PCM Invitational begins at 5:00 p.m. this afternoon in Monroe.
