It’s been a week since the Pella volleyball team last competed, and the Lady Dutch are hoping that the extra time in practice will benefit them on the floor Saturday in a tournament at Southeast Polk High School. Pella head coach Bob Fessler says while he will clearly be looking for progress in the way his team executes on the floor, he’ll also be checking the team’s psychological toughness.

“It’s going to be really key for us to see mental improvement. Are we being tougher coming out of timeouts? Is our focus as up-and-down as it’s been, or are we evening out on the focus and the mental aspects?” said Fessler. “Those will be the areas of concern – skill progression and the mental aspects [of the game].”

The Lady Dutch will see the host, Southeast Polk, along with Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson and Des Moines East in their tournament pool. The Pella volleyball team is 0-8 on the season entering Saturday’s action.
