The Pleasantville Trojans traveled to Eddyville-Blakesburg Friday night and once again swallowed a tough loss – falling to the Rockets 45-0.

With the end of the first half of the ballgame being only 14-0, Coach Tim Koerselman said he felt that the Trojans were still within reach of tying or even possibly coming away with a win over the Rockets.

“We weren’t conditioned. I thought we were in great shape in the first quarter, moving the football [and] stopping them,” said Koerselman. “We picked up that fumble, and unfortunately there was an inadvertent whistle as our kid was going in for a touchdown, and after that we ran out of gas.”

Eddyville-Blakesburg buried those hopes in the second half, scoring five rushing touchdowns to put the game well out of reach. The loss drops the Trojans to 0-2 on the season, with a trip to Panorama up next on the schedule to open District play.

You can catch a delayed broadcast of the Friday night’s game on AM 1320 KNIA at 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
