Governor Terry Branstad is lobbying the US Postal Service to review all available options before closing offices around the state. About 80 offices in Iowa are closed or scheduled to be closed including three in Marion County: Hamilton, Otley and Harvey. The US Post office says that the budget cuts are necessary because of reduced demand for services, but they also would likely result in the loss of jobs. Brandstad told KNIA/KRLS News recently that he owns the building that houses the Pleasantville Post Office among other post offices in the state.
