Property taxes are due September 1st. Though many people pay off their property taxes monthly as they pay off their mortgage, Marion County Treasurer Denise Emal says those people that have paid off their house or don’t have a mortgage with an Escrow need to get their payments in. She says you can pay via mail, at the Courthouse, or online at iowatreasurers.org. Those payments that are received or postmarked after September 30 will be assessed a 1.5% penalty.
