The Knoxville Streetscape committee met last week with project leaders from engineering firm Veenstra & Kimm to discuss the planning and execution of the Streetscape improvement project. City Manager Harold Stewart says that many downtown business owners were in attendance. The project will update and replace many of the underground utilities in and around the downtown area, and will be broken into five phases. Stewart says that the Veenstra & Kimm representatives were very clear that they intend to minimize any impact that the construction may have on downtown businesses.
