After a swift 3-0 sweep of PCM in the opening round of the Class 2A Regional Volleyball Tournament, the Pella Christian volleyball team prepares to take on another local foe, as the Lady Eagles host the Trojans of Pleasantville in the Regional quarterfinals Tuesday night.

Pella Christian head coach Cindy Nikkel says one area of emphasis for her team is improved performances out of her middle blockers on both offense and defense.

“We still want to work on getting our middles more active in every play so that the middle on the other side really has to make the decision every single time,” says Nikkel.

“I think another this is, we just need our middles to get a little more active with the blocking. We’ve picked up the blocking as the season has gone on, but I think we can do more. We’ve got the hops to do it, we’ve got the speed to get out there, we just need to be pushing and penetrating more.”

The Pella Christian volleyball team carries a 26-4 overall record into Tuesday night’s match – which will be held on the Lady Eagles’ home court – while Pleasantville is 8-19.
