The Knoxville City Council has directed city staff to rework some of the by-laws and language used for Council-appointed committees and boards. These include committees like the Knoxville Public Library Board and the Planning and Zoning commission. Knoxville City Manager Harold Stewart says the city council wants to ensure the committees are meeting on a regular basis, which is at the heart of some of the language changes. He adds that while going through some changes, they found some boards didn’t even have by-laws written. Stewart says that that will all get fixed as this process moves along.
