The City of Pella is working to develop several programs that will contribute to the Governor’s Healthiest State Initiative. One is a community garden that will be open next year. Pella Administrative Services Director Jenny Hesseltine says the idea behind the garden is to give families a way to improve diet while getting a little exercise outdoors. Kiwanis park will be the location of the 100 square foot plots. She says a price to secure one of the plots will be determined soon by City Council and estimates it will be around $20.
