A chance to potentially tie the game with one second on the clock and the ball on the three yard line was denied, as Wartburg College held on to claim a 20-13 win over the Central College football team Saturday afternoon, in a game heard live on 92.1 fm KRLS.

Just seven minutes earlier, Central quarterback Nate Snead’s touchdown run from three yards out had tied the game at 13 apiece, but the Knights answered with a score of their own to regain a seven-point advantage.

After putting up impressive numbers through the air in previous weeks, Snead was held to just 86 yards passing on 22 attempts; though he did lead the Dutch in rushing with 145 yards on 37 carries.

In all, Central put up 342 yards of total offense – 256 of which came via the run – while the Dutch defense yielded 290 yards to the Knights.

The loss drops Central to 6-3 overall and 5-2 in Iowa Conference play.  The Dutch have the next week off before closing out the regular season on November 12th at Simpson College.
