At 5-1 in the Iowa Conference, the Central College football team is still in contention for the wide-open league race, but they’ll need to win at Wartburg College today to keep those hopes intact.

The Dutch have enjoyed a rich rivalry in recent years with the Knights, with Wartburg winning six of the teams’ last ten meetings; making today’s contest not only important in the conference standings, but for bragging rights as well.

Wartburg was the preseason favorite to win the league crown, and is 3-2 in conference play and coming off of a bye week. The Knights’ losses were to Coe and Simpson on late-game comebacks, but Wartburg defeated the same Dubuque team that handed Central a very lopsided loss earlier in the season.

Coverage of the game will be broadcast live on 92.1 fm KRLS and streamed at kniakrls.com with the “Voice of the Dutch,” Trevor Castle, providing the play-by-play.

The broadcast from Walston-Hoover Stadium in Waverly begins at 12:45 this afternoon, with kickoff between Central and Wartburg at 1:00 p.m.
