Penalties and mistakes reared the ugly head for the Knoxville Football Squad last night against Perry as the Bluejays downed the Panthers 34-14 ending any hope for a playoff spot for Knoxville. The Panthers fumbled on the third place of the game and quickly found itself down early ager Perry scored three plays later. The Bluejays would add ten more points by halftime and break the game wide open in the second half to get up by a score of 34-0 before Knoxville could dent the scoreboard. Coach Troy Rider said after the first turnover…things just snowballed out of control. Knoxville would score in the fourth on a Colton Spaur run and Ryan Douglas catch from three yards out. Bryant McWilliams had his best night of rushing leading the Panthers with 135 yards on 20 carries…he also had 96 yards passing with one touchdown but three interceptions. The Panthers came into the game needing to stop Perry Running Back Kane Seeley, and they held him to just 26 yards on 19 carries, but did not plan on Freshman Will Whiton, who carried the ball five times for 101 yards. Knoxville falls to 1-7 on the season and 1-5 in Class 3A District Eight, the Panthers will close out the season at Dallas Center-Grimes next week.
