Knoxville Middle School is getting ready for a visitor today. USDA Deputy Under Secretary Janey Thornton will visit Knoxville Middle School to present the Gold of Distinction honor for their commitment and changes made through the HealthierUS School Challenge. Principal Brian McNeil says that this is a big honor, as they are only one of two schools in Iowa receiving the award. He says that award is a recognition of the team nutrition and total fitness concepts that the school has put together. Thornton will present the award during an assembly at the school at 2:30 this afternoon.
