Knoxville was at the Newton Invitational Saturday and came away with a two-and-three record on the day. The Panthers began by beating Carlisle in two games, but fell to Pella and Harlan in back-to-back setbacks. Knoxville did recover to beat Des Moines North in two games to close out pool play and then lost to Boone in the final round of play.

Jess Jones put down 27 kills to lead the way for Knoxville, while Emily Lee was 37/40 serving with six aces, Katie Cunningham was also solid behind the serve line going 26/29 also with six aces, and younger sister Meredith was very busy helping her teammates handing out 60 assists on the day.

Knoxville is now 9-13 on the season and will travel back to Newton for a heads-up conference match on Tuesday.
