Melcher-Dallas spotted Lenox 24 points in the first half and never recover in a 44-26 loss to the Tigers last night in the Eight-Man first round playoffs. The Lenox ground game rolled up 290 yards rushing while holding the Saints to just 65 yards. Melcher-Dallas looked to have momentum going into the halftime break when Ross Dawson took a 43 yard touchdown pass from Trent Kennedy on the last play of the first half to make the score 24/six. The Saints scored on their first possession of the second half to make it 24-12, but Lenox shut the door on any Melcher-Dallas comeback, scoring 13 unanswered points to get the count back up to 37-12. Melcher-Dallas made one final charge to get to 11 but ran out of time. Saints Coach Ryan Conrad said it came down to missed opportunities and mistakes early on. Melcher-Dallas’s standout running back Trent Flescher was held to just 42 yards on 14 carries, he did score a touchdown. Trent Kennedy was 18/29 through the air for 249 and two touchdowns and an interception. Melcher-Dallas’s historic season comes to a close with a record of 9-1.
