A very familiar opponent is again lined up with Pella Christian in the Class 2A Football Playoffs, as the Eagles start their postseason run by hosting North Polk.

The Comets edged the Eagles by a late touchdown in last year’s playoffs, as North Polk ended up advancing all the way to the championship game before falling to Iowa City Regina.

Pella Christian head football coach Rich Kacmarynski says he and his team are looking forward to another showdown with the Comets.

“I’m excited about playing them [North Polk], I think we all are. Last year’s game was a knock-down, drag-out fight, and they won on the last play of the ball game, but I felt like it was anybody’s ball game,” says Kacmarynski.

“I think we’re more physical, I think we’re built stronger than we were a year ago, so I like our physicality. I think we match up very, very well. We know them – this is the third time we’ve played them in five years. I like our chances tonight.”

Both teams are 7-2 overall entering tonight’s contest, which is being played on Pella Christian’s home field. Jamie Brockman and Nate Van Wyk will be on hand for the live play-by-play on kniakrls.com, starting at 6:30 p.m. tonight. You can also hear the game on a delayed broadcast at around 10:30 p.m. tonight on 92.1 fm KRLS.

Kickoff from Pella Christian High School is set for 7:00.
