A hard-hitting and multi-faceted Pella Christian offense was too much for the PCM defense to slow down last night, as the Lady Eagles defeated the Mustangs 3-0 (25-15, 25-9, 25-12) in the opening round of the Class 2A Regional Volleyball Tournament.

Outside hitter Jenna Horstman was particularly potent for Pella Christian, notching a game-best 14 kills and adding three aces. Sarah Faber had three aces as well, along with 13 assists; with fellow setter Lauren Jungling spreading around 20 assists to lead the team. Jora Vander Hart was 17-of-17 serving with an ace as well, while Tayler Stursma’s 15 digs led the Lady Eagles’ defense.

For PCM, Alex Samson put together a solid night, leading the Mustangs with nine kills. Molly Adams and Payge Edwards each had four digs, and Adams was 9-for-9 serving.

The loss ends PCM’s season at 7-17. Pella Christian improves to 25-4 overall and advances to the Regional Quarterfinals against Pleasantville – which they’ll host – next Tuesday night.
