Pella Christian put together another strong performance last night, downing Pleasantville 3-0 in the quarterfinal round of the Class 2A Regional Volleyball Tournament. The Lady Eagles took the first game by the score of 25-12, then claimed the next two sets with 25-10 victories.

With outside hitter Jenna Horstman out due to illness, versatile senior Jasmin Schelhaas moved to the outside of the Lady Eagles’ offense and filled in nicely; leading the team with nine kills. Lynelle De Bruin added seven kills to help pace the Pella Christian offense, while Sarah Faber spread around a match-best 15 assists. Faber also put up a solid night defensively with three blocks, while Jora Vander Hart had a team-best 12 digs.

Pleasantville was led by Augusta Sinclair, who posted six kills. Konner Heaberlin was 10-for-10 from the service line for the Trojans and put down two aces. The loss ends Pleasantville’s season at 8-20 overall.

Pella Christian is now 26-4 overall and advances to the Regional Semifinals to play the Interstate-35 volleyball team back at Pella Christian High School on Friday night. The Roadrunners defeated Clarke 3-1 last night.
