Pella Christian can lock up the Little Hawkeye Conference volleyball title with a win tonight at rival Oskaloosa. The Lady Eagles, Indians, and Newton Cardinals have pulled away from the rest of the field, and Pella Christian has already beaten Newton in league play.

Lady Eagles’ head coach Cindy Nikkel says it will be important for her team to stay focused against Oskaloosa as they try to reach one of this season’s team goals: a conference championship.

“Basically, if we would lose, it would be a three-way tie between Newton, Oskaloosa and us for the conference title, and we’re deciding that’s not a good idea,” joked Nikkel.

“We’re going to go after it, though, and try and claim the title. They’re a good team – I’d say they’re probably the best team in the conference besides us – and we’re going to need to take it to them.”

The opening serve between the Lady Eagles and Indians is set for 7:15 p.m. this evening at Oskaloosa High School.
