Both of Pella High’s cross country team’s are holding the same positions as last week in the latest team rankings from the Iowa Association of Track Coaches. The Little Dutch keep the bulls eye on their back again with the No. 1 ranking, with Boone breathing down their necks at No. 2 and Little Hawkeye Conference rival Grinnell checking in at No. 7.
On the girls’ side, the Lady Dutch are again at No. 8, with a pair of teams they’ll see at the upcoming District meet – Williamsburg and Benton – at No. 7 and No. 14, respectively.
Both teams boast stand-out No. 1 runners on their respective squads, with Zach Buchheit ranked as the top individual runner in Class 3A and Gabi Meirick garnering the No. 6 overall ranking.
Other notable individual rankings include Buchheit’s teammate – Evan Jones – at No. 8, and rival runner Wick Cunningham of Knoxville at No. 14.
Those names will all be featured atop the leaderboard on Monday at the Little Hawkeye Conference meet in Norwalk.
