The Pella football team has one more significant hurdle in front of them this Friday night, as only two weeks remain in the District schedule. After flexing some muscle in a 40-14 win over Keokuk last week, the Little Dutch will need to gather themselves for another match-up with a second-place team in the District in Fairfield.

Pella head football coach Jay McKinstrey says his team is excited about the position they’re in at this point in the season, and want to take a big step toward one of their goals for the season on Friday night.

“We’re at that time of season – game eight – getting ourselves ready for the postseason,” says McKinstrey, “and we’re just really, really excited about knowing that we’re going to get to play in the postseason, and we just want to continue to improve and go after a District championship.”

The Pella football team enters Friday night’s game in Fairfield with a 6-1 overall record and an unblemished 5-0 mark in Class 3A District 7. The Trojans are 5-2 overall and 4-1 in league play, with their only District loss to Oskaloosa.
