The Pella High football team is hoping another deep run into the postseason can begin tonight, when the Little Dutch host Perry in the opening round of the Class 3A Football Playoffs.

After falling in their season opener, Pella has won eight games in a row, claiming an undisputed District title along the way. Perry, meanwhile, has gotten hot in the second half of their season, with the Bluejays winning four of their last five to close out the schedule.

Pella head football coach Jay McKinstrey says the Bluejays – and standout player Kane Seeley – present a formidable first-round opponent.

“They’ve played very well the second half of the season, regardless of who they’ve played. You can see on film that they’ve played very well,” says McKinstrey.

“They’re going to be a physical team. They’re very big up front, and their tailback and linebacker are the same young man [Seeley] – he’s about 6’2”, 225 – we know he’s an Iowa State [University] signee. He’s just an outstanding player, he’s going to be very, very good and difficult to handle.”

You can hear tonight’s playoff game between Pella High and Perry broadcast live on 92.1 fm KRLS with Eric Gotschall and Randy Sikkema providing the call. Coverage begins at 6:15 p.m. with kickoff from Pella High at 7:00.
