Pella was able to win the boys and girls Class three-A District/Regional titles yesterday while the Knoxville boys made it a sweep of Little Hawkeye Conference schools qualifying for state. The Pella girls grabbed the top two individual spots as Gabi Meirick was the individual champion and Hanna Martin was runner up.

Pella scored 39 points to Williamsburg’s 59, while Benton was the third team to qualify in 3A. As a team Knoxville finished seventh, however Alissa VanKlootwyk on the strength of a fifth place finish qualified for her third state meet in four years. On the boys side, Pella, as expected ran away with the team title with a total of just 32 points to Grinnell’s 74 and Knoxville’s 85.

Those three teams all qualify for the state meet. Zach Buchheit was the individual champion while Evan Jones, Alex Ropes, and Wade Pingel earned all-District honors. Knoxville’s Wick Cunningham was also named all-District with his third place finish for the Panthers.

In class 1A none of our area teams were unable to qualify any teams or individuals to state, however Brittney Roby’s 13th place finish led the Twin Cedars girls while the Saber boys placed 12th as a team led by Otis Roby in 36th, while Pleasantville was led by Dylan Lauer in 31st.
