Pella Christian has its cross country teams back on the field of competition today, as the Eagles travel to Centerville. Pella Christian head coach Jocelyn Meinders says the course is mostly flat, but can still be challenging to navigate.

She adds that after facing mostly 3A and 4A schools, the competition that they’ll face should bode well for both the girls and boys teams.

“[It’s] smaller schools, so team-wise we’ll do better, [and] place-wise we’ll do better. I expect Jake [Lensing] and Sarah [Brandsen] – and maybe some others – to possibly medal there; which is always fun and encouraging for them,” says Meinders.

“It’s motivational for them to go out and know that they’re getting better placing like that, so while it’s a bit of a drive [to Centerville], but it’s a nice meet as far as morale for the team.”

The meet also serves as a final tune-up before the Little Hawkeye Conference championships. Competition on the course begins at 5:00 p.m. in Centerville.
