Pella Christian’s cross country teams are getting ready for the postseason, as head coach Jocelyn Meinders tries to give each of her athletes the tools they’ll need to run their best race of the season.
Meinders says one of the last areas of emphasis for her team has been a quicker and more consistent overall pace for each of her runners.
“At this point in the season, we’re working on speed a lot – just helping them make their race pace just a little bit faster and getting that edge on their starts and their finishes, and just keeping up their pace,” says Meinders.
“Also just sticking it out through their race, because the middle mile is always hard to maintain their pace, and getting them to where they can keep that same pace throughout the entire race.”
The cross country course at Iowa State University in Ames will be the site of Thursday’s District/Regional meet for Pella Christian.
