The 2011-2012 season opens tonight for the Pella Christian boys basketball team. The Eagles host West Marshall in a rematch of last year’s season-opener, which Pella Christian claimed in a wild, back-and-forth 64-59 victory in State Center.

Eagles’ head coach Larry Hessing says the Trojans are a well-rounded team, and his team will have to stay focused on their game plan to be successful.

“I know they have a lot of returning people. They have a very athletic team – obviously, if you look at their football program this year. They’ve got a big man inside,[and] they’ve got some quickness and good guard play,” says Hessing.

“We just need to be really solid, I think, [and] not try and do too much; just play within ourselves and try and play our game to see where we’re at.”

Tip-off between Pella Christian and West Marshall is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tonight in Pella.
