Ice cold shooting in the second half made for a tough home opener for the Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad last night against Albia. The Panthers scored just ten points in the second half in a 38-32 loss to the Lady Dees. The game was tied at 11 at the end of the first quarter and also knotted at half time at 22. However Albia made a 6-0 run to start the second half and never relinquished the lead. Knoxville Coach Jim Uitermarkt said it just comes down to needing to improve and get many of the girl’s game experience. Knoxville was led by Meredith Cunningham scoring 14 points. The Panthers were just 8/27 for the game from the field and 4/24 from three point range. Utiermarkt said the girls did rebound better last night evident by the 25-19 rebounding edge. Knoxville falls to 0-2 on the season and will host P-C-M on Thursday.
