Pella High hits the gridiron in Adel Monday night to face ADM in a rematch of the Class 3A second round playoff game from a season ago.
That game ended with the Little Dutch handing the Tigers a 56-0 whooping in Pella, but a repeat performance of that game seems highly unlikely. ADM was without starting quarterback Gavin Glenn in last year’s meeting, and he leads a high-powered Tigers offense that has been hanging up big numbers on the opposition.
Sporting an 11-0 record, ADM has outscored their opponents by an average of 31.5 points this season, and has cruised to blowout wins in each of the first two rounds of the playoffs so far.
Pella High head coach Jay McKinstrey says aside from ADM’s standout quarterback, the Tigers boast a number of talented playmakers on the offensive side of the ball, and says his defense will have to make adjustments throughout the game. That very defense was very impressive in last week’s win over Norwalk, shutting out the Warriors in a 17-0 win.
The Little Dutch are 10-1 overall, having run the table since a loss to Newton in week one. Monday night’s Class 3A Quarterfinal game in Adel will be broadcast live on 92.1 fm KRLS with Eric Gotschall and Randy Sikkema providing the call. Coverage begins at 6:15 p.m.
