A successful if unofficial debut for the Knoxville boy’s basketball squad last night at the Montezuma Jamboree. The Panthers won the two quarters with Montezuma 29-16 with Matt Smith scoring nine points to lead the way and Ryan Douglas contributing six. Coach Jeff Larson said for the most part the guys played well, however the defense struggled giving the Braves a few too many easy shots. Larson hopes that his team will develop into an athletic team utilizing their overall team speed. Knoxville has a rather quick turnaround as Albia comes to Knoxville on Tuesday night for the season opener for the Panthers. Larson says they will continue to work on improving their overall play and hopes to be ready for the Blue Demons come Tuesday night.
