The Knoxville Boys Basketball squad came back from as many as 12 points down to nearly pick off Albia last night, but the Demons held on for a 54-53 win. Knoxville had the ball in the final seconds, but was called for a traveling violation. Knoxville still had a chance as the Panthers were down by three with just over a second to play…and Bryant McWilliams was at the line with a two shot free throw opportunity. After making the first to get Knoxville within two points, he attempted to purposely miss the second to try to get a tip in at the buzzer to tie. However McWilliams tossed the ball at the rim…it spun around and went in, making it a one point game. Albia ran the final second off to preserve the win. Knoxville Coach Jeff Larson said after a slow start to the first half, the guys came out and played much better in the second half. Luke Brady led Knoxville with 14 points…all in the second half. The Panthers out rebounded Albia 26-19, however the Panthers struggled to make shots especially in the first half. Knoxville is oh-and-one and will host class 2A top ranked P-C-M tomorrow night.
