The Pella High girls basketball team enters the new season needing to fill a number of positions and see increased contributions from a new crop of seniors and juniors.

The Lady Dutch graduated six seniors from last year’s team, which went 19-4. Unfortunately, that half-dozen players accounted for nearly 76 percent of the team’s scoring.

That means that head coach Jerod Garland will be relying heavily on increased output from guards Katie Sunderman and Bailey Vande Weerd, and forward Regan Cooper – who all saw significant Varsity minutes last season.

The Pella girls basketball team begins competition on Tuesday when they travel to Huxley to take on Ballard.
