Though it felt like it ended too soon, the 2011 football season was another to be proud of for Pella Christian. The Eagles showed determination in recovering from a season-opening loss to Des Moines Christian by winning seven of the remaining eight games of the regular season, and made an impressive comeback bid in their mid-season loss to eventual District 8 champion PCM.
Eagles’ head coach Rich Kacmarynski said he was thankful to have had the opportunity to work with the student-athletes he had this fall, and thinks they’ve been able to appreciate the season for all that it was.
“This is a very tight group, and they were very thankful to play together and be part of something very special,” said Kacmarynski. “These are the type of young men that are able to see the broader canvas of what’s going on and look at the body of work that we did as a football team – and really as a whole class. I’m very thankful for them and I think they can feel good about what they’ve accomplished.”
The Pella Christian football team went 7-3 overall this past season and was 6-1 in Class 2A District 8 to finish runner-up. Again the Eagles made the Class 2A Playoffs, falling to North Polk in the opening round.
