On Monday the Pella School board met and discussed the application to run an Innovative Calendar for the next school year. Part of the current plan would be to increase the amount of teacher professional development hours from the current 20 to at least double that amount. Pella School District Superintendent Greg Ebeling told KNIA/KRLS News that Pella is behind other area school districts in how many hours they allocate to professional development. Applying for permission to run an innovative calendar will allow the Pella School District to have less then 180 contact days with students.
