The Pleasantville boys basketball team opens the new schedule not far from home, as the Trojans make the short trek up Highway 5 to face Carlisle tonight.

Pleasantville head coach Tom Wilkins says the first game of the season is always tough to predict, but he expects Carlisle’s Jeremy Flaws to factor heavily into the Wildcats’ offense.

“I don’t know what to expect. That first game is always interesting. We didn’t play real well in our first game last year, so hopefully they’ll get up for a game like this,” said Wilkins.

“I know they’ve [Carlisle] got a Flaws kid over there that can shoot the ball. He hit four three-pointers in the fourth quarter last year, so obviously he’s going to be a focus. We need to know where he is at all times. But like I’ve told the kids, if we take care of our business, good things’ll happen.”

He adds that his team let slip a double-digit lead in the second half of last year’s match-up, and he’s hoping that loss may motivate his returning starters.

Wilkins’ squad takes to the court in the second of a girls/boys twin bill, which begins at 6:00 p.m. tonight in Carlisle. You can hear live coverage of the game streamed live at kniakrls.com with Colin McDonnell providing the play-by-play.
